I was a block away from a shooting the day before Father’s Day. Then I was about 30 feet from a police officer shooting and killing a man on the 3rd of July. I don’t feel safe in crowds anymore. This has triggered my anxiety and I can’t be in a room with too many people without planning my exit strategy, without un-tensing my legs, or with out thinking why a shooter would pick this location.
I don’t do crowds anymore, and I don’t think I ever will.
A writer for the new york times interviewed a series of people who had survived jumping off the golden gate bridge. Every person she interviewed admitted that about two thirds of the way down, they realized that every seemingly meaningless problem that caused them to jump was fixable.

I’m at that age now where I only want to associate myself with grown people and grown situations. People who play mind games, attention seek, guilt trip or other manipulative things need to stay clear away from me.
